Passport to Success is an exciting summer opportunity for middle school students to explore career and postsecondary options while participating in fun enrichment experiences all over the greater Grand Rapids area! Students explore career fields such as entrepreneurship, health care, theater, manufacturing, construction, video game design, and robotics. They also get a glimpse of college life by spending a few days on a college campus.

Summer Programming COVID-19 Response

We take the health and safety of our local community very seriously and believe it is our responsibility to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. We have had to make some difficult decisions, and due to the crisis, we have decided to cancel our summer programming this year. If you have any questions, feel free to contact

Enrichment Experiences – students are provided with four to five weeks of summer camp experiences that already exist in the greater Grand Rapids area. College students and teachers serve as program assistants who will accompany Passport students to the camps.

Career Exploration – students learn more about their own skills and interests via online assessment tools and research careers that could be a good fit. They also participate in job shadowing and visit institutions that offer postsecondary credentialing.

Soft Skills Training – students will continue their training on learning about “soft skills” (e.g., teamwork, communication, responsibility, integrity, etc.). Skills will be reviewed and encouraged throughout the summer.

Academics – Fun and engaging activities are incorporated into camp experiences to reinforce math and literacy skills. No summer learning loss for Passport participants!

Breakfast and lunch are included each day, as well as transportation to all camps and activities. Due to a generous grant, the enrollment costs for all camps are covered.

We are looking for students currently enrolled in grades 7 or 8 who are committed to their academics, who are considering their future plans, who show great potential, and who are open to new experiences. Students from Grand Rapids, Kentwood, and Wyoming are eligible. Students who attend Dickinson Academy, Hope Academy, and River City Scholars Academy are especially encouraged to apply.
